Emphasis will be placed on learning skills and techniques that you can take home with you (of course you get your chair too). All aspects of the chair building process will be covered in detail, except for turning and finishing. I have no secrets and am happy to answer all questions as time permits.
The spindles will be made at home by the students prior to class. During class, bows will be bent and seats will be carved from a single piece of white pine. Due to time limitations, the turned parts (legs, stretches, arm stumps) will be provided. At the class’s end, the chairs will be assembled and ready for you to finish at home.
Class size is limited to four students. All tools and materials are provided and amazingly delicious lunches are cooked by a local chef.
Before taking this class, you must have taken a class with me or an instructor I am familiar with (Curtis Buchanan, Peter Galbert, Greg Pennington, etc).
A $200 deposit is required to register. If written cancellation is received up to two months before the class start date, a 50% refund will be provided. Within two months no refund is offered.
